Responsibilities of a General Trade Apprentice
Assist experienced carpenters with layout and measurement tasks to ensure accurate project specifications.
Participate in the installation of various structures and fixtures, including cabinetry, flooring, and framing.
Learn and apply trade skills under the supervision of skilled professionals to develop a solid foundation in carpentry.
Maintain tools and equipment, ensuring they are clean, organized, and in good working condition.
Help in the preparation of materials and tools required for ongoing projects.
Follow safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
Assist in the measurement and cutting of materials according to project specifications.
Participate in team meetings and training sessions to enhance skills and knowledge.
Requirements for a General Trade Apprentice
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Basic understanding of carpentry tools and materials.
Strong willingness to learn and take direction from experienced carpenters.
Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting heavy materials and standing for extended periods.
Good communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment.
Attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
Basic math skills for measurements and calculations.
Valid driver's license may be required for transportation to job sites.
